Operation Life Line has been an on-going effort by America's Heroes of Freedom (AHOF) since its inception. It began after two landmark AHOF events: Washington, D.C. Honors America's Heroes of Freedom a patriotic tribute on the anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon attended by 1,800 Pentagon family members and approximately 2,300 total, and Women of Heroes Too, a May 2003 event held at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Arlington, VA that honored women heroes and which received the support of 50 Congressmen and Senators.
Today, Operation Life Line focuses on assisting wounded and ill service members and their family members at military medical centers. AHOF has provided service members with Special Care Packages and supplies to aid in their recovery and healing as well as expressing the Nation's love and gratitude to these men and women who lay down their lives for our Freedom.
America's Heroes of Freedom's operations have included assisting Army and Marine personnel who returned through Andrews Air Force Base, MD to recuperate from their injuries in Iraq.
Since the war began, over 10,000 U.S. combat troops had returned ill or wounded to Andrews AFB (current numbers exceed 30,000). AHOF focused its attention to meet their needs
having learned of the severe lack of personal care items for these servicemen and servicewomen who arrived at the CASF (Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility) for
immediate medical attention. Their uniforms would typically be cut to shreds for direct access to wounds. Many today are still fighting low morale, loss, trauma and internal wounds.
Some wrestle with the fact that limbs must be amputated. We may never begin to comprehend the sacrifices these men and women have made but we know it is only right that we help meet
their basic needs and to help them feel whole, welcomed and loved.
During our efforts over the last several years, we have noticed declining and absent media coverage on our wounded servicemen and servicewomen, and such may lead us believe the need is
nonexistent. In reality, however, it is very real and very great. Many fellow Americans also find it difficult to absorb that these personal care items are not furnished as
standard procedure and therefore our plea to our Nation to aid our Finest has mostly gone unanswered. We believe the Nation would be shocked to learn that over 30,000 wounded and ill
American service members from all branches of the armed forces have thus far come back to the U.S. to military hospitals or their homes to recover.
Can you help us? America's Heroes of Freedom has always been understaffed and lacked financial resources, yet to date we are grateful to have accomplished some high profile endeavors.
Operation Life Line is a direct effort to aide our wounded U.S. troops. All donations are tax deductable. As AHOF is a volunteer organization, your donations will go directly to helping our Operations.
